There are two distinct but inter-connected aspects of Reiki. On the one hand there is the 'healing' side. In which a practitioner, would utilize Reiki, which could help with any physical, mental, emotional or spiritual matters. This focus on the more 'healing' side of Reiki has become most prominent in the west, and at first glance (even among Reiki students) this may seem the main focus.
There is however another aspect of Reiki. This is Reiki the spiritual path. Some would say a complete spiritual path. This goes back to recent information coming from Japan, that suggests to us that the founder of the system of Reiki (Mikao Usui) , originally created & intended the system to be a 'vehicle', a path for our own self-development. This system (if we can call it that) would be more properly termed as 'Reiho' (spiritual method). The healing ability was a by-product, albeit a possibly natural one. There is information to suggest that Usui sensei changed aspects of this Reiho for a group of Japanese Naval Officers. Although the system Usui sensei used was changed at some point, there is no reason why Usui sensei would not have made these changes himself.
The hope of this site will be to as accurately as possible bring an up-to-date view of the history of Reiki & it's aims, information on both the spiritual path & the healing aspect of Reiki, a developing content of other energy therapies & spiritual paths, and what I as a Teacher & Practitioner can offer you.
